Historic Royal Palaces - A Royal residence since 1689, Kensington Palace was the official home of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Kensington Palace has been a Royal residence for over 300 years, and it was here that Queen Victoria was born and spent her childhood. Set within the tranquillity of Kensington Gardens, this is the most intimate of royal palaces, not simply an impressive stage for the ceremonies of court life but a charming and much-loved home. The magnificent State Apartments give a glimpse of court life, with an impressive display of paintings from the Royal Collection.

The Sunken Garden

This intriguing garden was laid out during the reign of Edward VII and re-creates the formal gardens that existed at Kensington Palace in the 17th century when it was admired by Samuel Pepys, amongst others, as a mighty fine cool place, with a great layer of water in the middle.

The Orangery

The Orangery Cafe and Restaurant provides a wide range of refreshments from morning coffee and light lunches to afternoon tea. A children's menu is also available. All food is home-made daily on site.

Fashion Rules: Restyled

New for 2016, a new dress display in the Fashion Rules exhibition will take visitors further into the wardrobes of HM The Queen, Princess Margaret and Princess Diana, giving you the chance to glimpse into the era defining styles of these three royal woman.
