Spend the day exploring London's most iconic sights and attractions on this ultimate Day Trip. Enjoy Changing the Guard Ceremony at Buckingham Palace, Guided Tour of St Paul's Cathedral, entry to The Tower of London, plus a fantastic Thames River Cruise
Your Guided London Day Trip begins on-board a luxury coach with a Panoramic Tour around Parliament Square to see the magnificent Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Horse Guard's Parade, before heading to Kensington Palace, former home of Diana, Princess of Wales. Sit back and enjoy these iconic London landmarks.
We head to St James' Park and Buckingham Palace to see the colourful Changing the Guard Ceremony. Accompanied by a military band, a detachment of the Queen's Foot Guard, Household Division march to Buckingham Palace to change with the old guard. Dressed in bearskin hats and scarlet tunics, this is British pomp and pageantry at it's best.
(When there is no Changing the Guard Ceremony, we will visit Horse Guards Parade).
We take you on a guided tour of St Paul's Cathedral, Sir Christopher Wren's masterpiece with its magnificent dome. The Cathedral was rebuilt after the Great Fire of London in 1666. In recent years it has seen the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales, to Lady Diana Spencer and, more recently, the thanksgiving services for both the Diamond Jubilee and 80th Birthday of Her Majesty the Queen.
Climb 259 steps up the dome and you will find The Whispering Gallery, which runs around the interior of the Dome. It gets its name from a charming quirk in its construction, which makes a whisper against its walls, audible on the opposite side.
(On Sundays and during special events, St Paul's Cathedral is closed to visitors. We will stop for photographs at St Paul's Cathedral and spend longer at the Tower of London)
Founded by William the Conqueror in 1066-7 and enlarged by successive sovereigns, the Tower of London is one of the world's most famous and spectacular fortresses. Over the past 1000 years it has been a Royal palace, an armoury and a place of imprisonment and execution. The Beefeaters who guard the Tower will regale you with stories of its past. We will visit the Crown Jewels, including the magnificent solid-gold crown used at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, the enormous Cullinan diamonds and the extraordinary Koh-I-Noor.
City Cruises operate a regular service between the Tower of London and Westminster Pier. You have the choice to take the River Cruise and end your tour at Westminster Pier, or take the cruise another day and enjoy an extended visit at the Tower of London. River Cruise Tickets are one-way from Tower Pier to Westminster Pier (or vice versa).
When there is no Changing the Guard Ceremony we will visit Horse Guards Parade.
On Sundays and during special events, St Paul's Cathedral is closed to visitors.
